about this art: In December 2023, I went into an art cave to try and find my true art style. I came out with 12 Frida paintings, I curated it down to 10 and called it a series. This is my number one absolute favorite painting of that set. Looking at this art makes me feel everything. Validation. Love. Strength. Honoring my spirit animal in this way, using her strength to push through harder moments. The Calla Lily and bright red lips referencing the amazing matriarchs who raised me. This painting brought me back to life, even though I was already awake. So hard to explain how paintings almost alter our dna as they come out. It is all so important in my story and evolution!
fun fact: I was booked to paint live at a local venue called The Fern. That's why I stuck ferns in her hair! The event cancelled and I spent that evening that I now had free... making this art. Fancy that its my favorite piece from 2023, and now I love to paint Ferns. Life is sometimes just like that. It goes linear regardless of plans or rules. You just have to pay attention to the bread crumbs.
